The physical act of cutting into images helps me understand how media shapes my reality. Rearranging these fragments is more than an artistic process; it is a way to dismantle commercial influence and reclaim agency. Through this method of cut and paste, I decondition my gaze, allowing new narratives to take shape beyond conventional media scripts.

This series borrows and subverts the aesthetic of advertising. By isolating fragments from commercial imagery, I redirect their power of seduction. I focus on advertising's long-standing circulation of a narrow vision of femininity, one that conditions young women to view their bodies as objects and often leaves both visible and invisible scars.

In response, these collages offer a gaze turned inward, creating a space that is intimate, vulnerable, and restorative. They reflect a fragmented identity in the process of reconstructing itself, capturing the nuanced transition from girlhood to womanhood.

During the strict confinement of spring 2020, this collage was part of a Mail Art collaboration between the Coupee Collage Collective and the Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent. Designed as a gesture of human connection during a time of extreme lockdown, this original piece was sent directly to a resident in a psychiatric institution to bridge the gap between isolation and creative community.
