My process relies on a continuous dialogue between physicality and virtuality. I start by painting directly over printed images. Magazines, photo prints. Then I scan them, blow them up, and push the digital version around. I distort textures and break the original composition apart. Once reprinted, I go back in with paint and manual collage.
I keep repeating that until the image starts to feel unfamiliar. Cutting, erasing, blurring, layering. Each intervention strips away something literal and adds something genuine: an intention, a weight, a residue of the hand. Somewhere in that process, as the original subject dissolves, the piece begins to speak in a different language. It starts to hold a message — a feeling or a logic that isn't immediately obvious. It waits to be revealed, only to be confirmed later through another spectator's reading.
Some pieces lands on portraits, but not in a realistic sense. They become archetypal. Others tilt into abstraction and become about a state of mind: transition, unease, a threshold moment. Yet there is always an intention to find balance — holding space between the serious and the absurd, exposing inner conflicts in a way that is playful, subtle, and at times, slighlty provocative.
